Long Overdue Introduction

Hey there! It's been about three years since I started this website, and I'm finally getting to my to-do list that's been growing since the moment I listed my first comic book (which my inventory tracker says was Marc Spector: Moon Knight #57, you know, the one with the cool Stephen Platt Spider-Man cover).

My name is Shawn Schillberg, and I've been collecting comics since I was a teenager. To date myself a little, the first comic book I bought on my own was New Mutants #53. 

The original plan for Simple Tragic was exhibiting at comic shows and conventions in the northeast, but the pandemic shut everything down just as I signed my first contracts. While in-person events were on hold, I figured I'd try setting up a web shop. It didn't take long for folks to find it, and here we are!

While figuring out the plan for the website, I knew immediately that I wanted to offer the best prices I could on as many titles as I could. While we're absolutely spoiled in New England, most people don't live anywhere near a great comic shop, or even a crummy one. I wanted to provide an option for comic book fans to casually browse a ton of backissues, add them to a cart and feel confident that they'll receive exactly what they ordered. There are only a handful of websites with deep backissue offerings, and they're generally overpriced, or they're awful auction sites.

I'm aiming to commit to posting here on a regular basis, as well as sending out a monthly newsletter with inventory & sale updates.
